Talked with the boss today. We both agreed it was wrong for anyone to contact him about my business. He promised to stop hounding me, actually seeming afraid I was going to quit. It looks like business is back to being just that, without any talk of religion. Thank you everyone for your concern and good advice.

My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 3
by Simon infor me, the walls of the watchtower were not destroyed by a single giant cannon-ball but rather every brick had been weakened and suddenly the whole thing just 'collapsed'.. i've alwys been an avid reader and a firm believer that you can learn anything and everything from a good book.
anyway, i was reading a bad book, the creation book, and this time things were different.. normally, the mere thought that the wts could "not be right" could not even be contemplated.
it was like you can't even comprehend the concept or understand the question, least of all imagine it.. yet now, i read the book and things were screaming at me from the pages.

God's Ride
by dustyb ini always remember in the bible that god's preferred choice of transportation was a chariot.
why would god have a chariot though, instead of a nice new porsche 911 or a ferarri or something like that?
he'd sure be noticed more =d

Ezekiel would have really flipped his lid if he saw a black 911 descend from the heavens. "I thought I was out there before, but this is f'n crazy!"

Puternut, brother, I feel for you. I've had days just like the one you describe. You are definitely not a freak for fantasizing about "the end." But you really have to discard such useless thoughts and focus on the positive, if you can. You're a free man, free from mental slavery and oppression at the hands of the borg. Your mind is your own again. Leaving WT is a brave decision, one that any thinking person deeply admires. Your posts on this forum are invaluable. I have personally been helped by some of your sage advice. There are hundreds more who really need your wisdom to brave their own storms. If all else fails, just hunker down and ride it out. A transition such as yours can be extremely trying, but we both know you will feel better than ever when you come out the other side victorious. Write me anytime.

You know what? I'm just going to give my boss the truth. I don't feel obligated to speak to the elders. I do not recognize their authority. They do not hold any rightful power over my life. They do not have the moral right to harass me or my associates. Likely, he will pass this message on to someone and it will (quickly) get to whom it needs to, although probably quite distorted. If they view this as a DA, so be it. I just don't care anymore. I really have nothing to lose. At this point, my main concern is not giving those bible-beating busybodies the satisfaction of my compliance. F*** 'em!

Thank you Scully! Your words about deciding who I do/don't talk to ring true. I feel so much better and I have not compromised. I am really tempted to call one right now and ask him just what it is he needs to know so badly about me. Better wait till I calm down before I do anything foolish. BTW, my boss also owns the company. Not that he would fire me or anything, but I am quite aware of discrimination laws and will press charges if necessary. Mainly, I just feel bad that he is being put in the middle of this. He needs to tell the elders his position, that he does not want to be involved. I am not saying a word to them until I'm good and ready to be shunned. Man, if only I was born into a nice, cult-free family, this wouldn't be happening. Why didn't I learn the first time I was Df'ed? Why did I come crawling back for more? RRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I have thought about getting a new job, but I don't want to/ shouldn't have to. This whole situation is just so wrong!
Granted, my boss should not bring up anything religious, and it is unprofessional, but I don't really blame him. It's just his twisted way of showing love and in reality after about 30 seconds he starts talking about his problems that I get paid to listen to. It's the elders that I hold responsible. They've overstepped the bounds of concern and now the whole thing stinks of a dirt-finding, evidence-gathering, committee fest.

My boss (an MS in a different cong.) leaves me a message saying that the elders from my hall called him at his meeting last night. They just won't leave well enough alone! My boss is cool, even though he is a devoted follower, he hasn't come off as judgemental, only sincerely wanting to help me in his JW way. He says that I'm a grown man and I should talk to the elders. I know he's right, I just don't want to be DF'ed, which is inevitable unless I play ball. I just want to be inactive. I'll keep my viewpoints away from the herd. Why can't I just live peacefully? Has anyone else gone through this? I thought only bill collectors resorted to this kind of harassment. Apparently, I was wrong.

Remember Dateline??
by Joyzabel ini'm trying to get some comments that active jehovah's witnesses may have heard after dateline aired back on may 28, 2002.
do you remember any comments made about the dateline program either made from the platform at the kingdom hall, or in private conversations with other jw's?
how were the people who where on dateline viewed in your area, especially at the kingdom hall or by other jws?

It's amazing that almost anyone who gives ear to "apostate teachings" has a crisis of faith. Surely, the absolute truth, from Jehovah God himself, would be able to withstand the rantings of a few disenchanted, spiritually dead liars. Hmmmm.....maybe they don't have "the truth". Maybe the whole teaching is a house of cards, built on a table of lies.
How 'bout the picture they paint of the internet, that it's just a lurking den for perverts and outcasts and pedophiles. Isn't it wonderful to know that all some unsuspecting dub has to do is type "jehovah" into a search engine and the real truth comes right to their screen, an anonymous mouse-click away. The net has become their biggest enemy.

Are you more intelligent since you left?
by Nosferatu inever since leaving the jws, i believe i've become much more intelligent.
i now have to learn from my past mistakes rather than viewing my mistakes as a result of satan's influence.
i now know how to prevent myself from making the same mistakes rather than repeating them due to ignoring the facts.

I am very inclined to agree with you, SAJWEE, but this event really has me puzzled. I really doubt that my actual IQ rose (but maybe it did), but it at least feels like my brain got a major tune-up. Seriously, there are times I am genuinely surprised at the positive changes, like I'm thinking with someone else's brain.
